Piper

Hey! Ho drum diddy dum dum ho!

The merry man is singing!

Across the grassy knoll, a joyful tune he’s bringing

to friends that gather in sun or shade

he will sing until that tranquil glade

where voice and stars alike will glow

And the Piper will lead us to reason

Because the music, it is so pleasing.

Hey! Strum deedle dum dum, yo ho!

The merry man is dancing!

Suede boots twirl and silky blue coat tails are prancing

In a shiny glad, across rosy cheeks a grin plays the pipe

of dreams, wishes and all that type

That’s upon us in the night, oh come the merry weary, ho,

I the piper will lead you to reason

Come, sing with me among the stars in unison.

Hey! Bum diddy dum dum ho!

The merry man is piping!

No other can rival his piping!

Upon his head is a cocky old hat

That gracefully tipped as he sat

A comfortable boot rested with no woe

Because he knows he will lead you to reason

Away from those who follow no music, they are only teasin’.

Hey! Ho drum diddy dum dum ho!

The merry man is leaving!

A silver blanket the stars are weaving!

Green eyes droop and fingers tingle, time to rest

Because turning back to reason is best

For those of musical intuition know

that the Piper will lead us to reason

So, hey ho, come my merry children from the freezin’

Cold, the fire is crackling and the tea is steaming

Hasten forth, knowing the musical warmth

And let soft beds leave you dreaming.

  1. What should be known about this piece is that it was partially inspired by Tolkein’s Tom Bombadil, Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” and the Pied Piper of Hamelin (old legend from Germany associated with the disappearance of children).
